Xul Solar Museum

The museum was Xul Solar's house, an artist appreciated by Borges, of a remarkable mystic-esoteric influence with great inventiveness, and where intellectual meetings took place. The exhibition shows works by Xul Solar selected by the artist for the "Pan Klub", including objects, sculptures and documents from his personal archives.

FIT Latin America

Feria Internacional de Turismo de America Latina.

This Tourism Fair will be held from November 14 to 17 at La Rural.

Palais de Glace

The name (ice castle, in French) is because it used to be an ice-skating rink. Nowadays it houses the National Halls of Exposition in Buenos Aires, spaces that offer different artistic exhibitions, almost all of them contemporary.

Former cloister of the Recoleto monks, this modern cultural center keeps its Colonial cloisters and blocks. You may see art and video exhibitions, and get to know the avant-garde tendencies.

Inside this exclusive cemetery we find the remains of Argentina's most famous people. Facundo Quiroga, Juan Manuel de Rosas, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, and the most famous Argentinian woman: Eva Peron, "Evita".

Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilica

Timetable: Monday to Sunday from 7:30am to 8:30pm. Guided visits: Saturday and Sunday: 3, 4 and 5pm.

Built in 1732 by order of the Recoleto priests, it keeps its original aspect thanks to all the restoration works. You can visit the cloisters from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:15am to 6:15pm; and Sunday from 2:30pm to 6:15pm

Located at Avenida Quintana and Ortiz Street, in Recoleta, there is a Tourist Information Office open from Monday to Friday from 10:30am to 18:30pm. Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 7pm.

National Fine Arts Museum

Universal Art, works from Giorgio de Chirico, Paul Cezanne, Camilla Corot, Edgar Degas, Jean Dubuffet, Paul Gauguin, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Edouard Manet, Joan Miro, Claude Monet. Since 1980, a 95 square meters exhibit room withholds the most complete collection in regards to Argentine art in the 20th. century.

National Museum of Decorative Arts

The Errazuriz Alvear Palace is a unique example of French eclectic Architecture, style developed in Buenos Aires in the beginnings of the 20th. Century. It hoards the national collection of decorative art.

Temporary Exhibition "Collectable and Collectors"; 19th. Century English and French Perfume purse flasks, pocket watches, toy ships, old ebanistery tools and flippers and pinballs of the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Recoleta

It is the most elegant and distinguished neighborhood of the City of Buenos Aires. The name of Recoleta comes from the Barefoot Monks of Recoleto placed in the area at the beginning of the 18th. Century. Its French style construction, its urban design, history, food restaurants, and all the trees around the area, make of Recoleta a place not to miss. During the week-ends, the green areas are the meeting points of young people and artists.

Mercedes Sosa dies.


Argentine folk singer and activist Mercedes Sosa has died aged 74 after suffering kidney problems.

A Unicef goodwill ambassador, Sosa produced 40 albums over her long career and collaborated with musicians including Luciano Pavarotti, Sting, Shakira and Joan Baez.

She was mourned at the National Congress of Buenos Aires.

French's Mansion

El Solar de French

Located at Defensa 1062 in San Telmo.

Domingo French was born in this house; he fought in the English invasions of 1805. The mansion was built in 1762. The patio of this house was turned into a gallery with many small antique shops. Do not forget to visit the Market of Arts and Handcrafts on the first floor. You may choose to take the Subway Line C exit at Estacion San Juan.

San Lorenzo Passage

Pasaje de San Lorenzo

At Defensa 700, until the second half of the last century this Passage was the physical border of San Telmo, as there, it used to run a stream. Once entering this magical street you will see many examples of last century Argentina architecture. Curiously: at number 380, you'll find the Minute House, built around 1850 with a facade of only 2.30 meters and a tiny balcony in its upper floor. Also, at number 319 you will find the beautiful patios of San Telmo (patios with the workshops of artisans and artists). Take Subway Line C exit at Estacion Independencia.
